CARE GUIDE
Frequently Asked Questions
What is my chunky chenille blanket made from?
Our chunky chenille blankets are made from 100% polyester chenille yarn. This gives them their signature velvety softness, durability, and plush texture. They’re also hypoallergenic, making them a great choice for those who may be sensitive to natural fibres.
How often should I wash my chunky chenille blanket?
Unlike everyday bedding, chunky chenille blankets don’t usually need frequent washing. In most cases, washing only when necessary will help maintain their softness and appearance. For minor spills or marks, spot cleaning is often all that’s needed.
Can I spot clean my blanket?
Yes. For small stains or spills, simply dab the affected area with a clean cloth, cool water, and a small amount of mild detergent. Avoid rubbing the stain, as this can damage the fibres and affect the blanket’s soft texture.
What is the best way to wash a chunky chenille blanket?
Hand washing is always the gentlest option. Fill a bath, sink, or large basin with cool or lukewarm water, add a small amount of mild detergent, and gently move the blanket through the water. Allow it to soak for 10 to 15 minutes before rinsing thoroughly with clean water.
Avoid scrubbing, twisting, or wringing the blanket, as this can stretch the yarn and alter its shape.
Can I machine wash my chunky chenille blanket?
Yes. As our blankets are made from 100% polyester chenille yarn, they can be machine washed. Use a cold wash on a delicate cycle with a low spin speed. If possible, place the blanket inside a large laundry bag for extra protection during washing.
Always avoid bleach, harsh detergents, and strong chemicals, as these can damage the fibres and reduce the blanket’s softness.
Can I use fabric softener?
We don’t recommend using fabric softener. Chenille yarn is naturally soft, and fabric softeners can sometimes leave a residue on the fibres, affecting the blanket’s texture over time.
How should I dry my chunky chenille blanket?
The best method is to lay the blanket flat to dry. After washing, gently press out excess water using clean towels and reshape the blanket if needed. Drying flat helps prevent stretching and keeps the blanket looking its best.
Can I tumble dry my chunky chenille blanket?
Yes. Because our blankets are made from 100% polyester chenille yarn, they can be tumble dried on a low heat setting.
To keep your blanket in the best condition:
- Use a low temperature or delicate drying programme.
- Avoid high heat settings.
- Remove the blanket promptly once dry.
- Avoid over-drying, as this can flatten the fibres and reduce softness.
If the blanket is still slightly damp after tumble drying, simply lay it flat and allow it to finish drying naturally.
Can I hang my blanket to dry?
We recommend avoiding this where possible. A wet chunky blanket can become quite heavy, and hanging it may cause the blanket to stretch out of shape. Drying flat is always the safest option.
Is polyester chenille hypoallergenic?
Yes. Polyester chenille is naturally hypoallergenic, making it a popular choice for people who are sensitive to certain natural fibres. It’s also resistant to many of the allergens commonly associated with traditional wool products.
How can I keep my blanket looking fluffy and beautiful?
A little extra care goes a long way. We recommend:
- Washing only when necessary.
- Spot cleaning small stains quickly.
- Storing the blanket folded rather than hanging.
- Keeping sharp objects and pet claws away from the yarn.
- Using gentle washing and drying methods.
With the right care, your chunky chenille blanket will remain soft, cosy, and beautifully fluffy for years to come.
What's the most important thing to remember when caring for a chunky chenille blanket?
Be gentle. Chunky chenille blankets are designed to be loved and used every day, but treating them with a little extra care during washing and drying will help preserve their softness, shape, and luxurious feel for many years.
